Enabling/Disabling Email Greylisting in cPanel

Greylisting is a feature that defends email users against spam. When greylisting is enabled, the cPanel mail server will temporarily reject any incoming email from a sender that the cPanel server does not recognise. If the email is legitimate, the server that sent it will try to send the email again after a delay. After a sufficient amount of time, the cPanel server will accept the email.

Greylisting is enabled by default for all cPanel email accounts. When greylisting is enabled, emails may be delayed arriving in your cPanel email inbox. If you would prefer for all emails to arrive instantly and are happy with the tradeoff of potentially receiving spam mail, you can disable greylisting in cPanel by following the steps below:

  1. Go to Configure Greylisting under the Email heading in cPanel
  2. Toggle the Status to Off beside your domain
  3. Greylisting is now disabled for this domain and emails will arrive instantly

Please understand with greylisting disabled, you may be more susceptible to receiving spam email in your cPanel email accounts. Greylisting can be re-enabled at any time by following the above steps.
